The Southern California Poker Tur event held at Golden West Casino in California, saw a field of 146 players taking part in the event which had a total prize pool of $36,500.

The winner of this event was Tim Stevens who took home a tidy sum of $13,680, followed by "Crypto" Kingery who took home $6,480 for second place.

Tournament champion John Wrona survived a short-chipped "all in" hand early in final table play, then steadied his play and took chips fromeach of the remaining players, most notably in a huge hand with early chip leader John Kim.

Kim suffered a run of hopeful starting hands that were all beaten, and finished third. Second place finisher Bret Draxten spent most of his final table patiently seven of the nine players play their way out the door, then did his best against Wrona, who by thenhad a huge chip lead that prevailed in just a few more hands.

JohnWrona, after taking first place in this event of The Southern California Poker Tour netted himself the tidy sum of $50,000.

Southern California Poker Tour’s First Event (Sold-Out)

Lake Elsinore, CA.

The Southern California Poker Tour kicked off its series of televised poker tournaments on Saturday Sept. 18 at Lake Elsinore Hotel and Casino.

With a prize pool of $58,200, the sold-out event stretched Lake Elsinore’s poker room to 30 tournament tables. The final winner of the event, Robin Hartley of Grants Pass, Oregon, took home the first-place prize of $20,370.

Final table participants ranged in age from 24 to 63 years old, with varied occupations including a television editor, a lumber salesman, a park and recreation marshal, and a retired postal carrier.

The Gaming Club Online Poker Room
, a tour sponsor, sweetened the pot for tournament players by giving them a complimentary $20 deposit and an entry to a $10,000 Freeroll Tournament to be held at their online poker room.

Southern California Poker Tour on TV

The Southern California Poker Tour will begin airing events on XETV (Fox Channel 6) and XUPN (UPN Channel 13) on October 2, 2004 in the San Diego television market.

The first airing will be seen at midnight Saturday October 2, 2004 on UPN and at 11:00pm Sunday October 3, 2004 on Fox.

Once the events begin, you will also be able to access complete SCPT tournament results and information about future events and television airing schedules.

The first SCPT event will be held at Lake Elsinore Hotel and Casino on September 18, 2004. Registration will begin at 10:00am and the tournament will begin at Noon.

Southern California Poker Tour

The Southern California Poker Tour, brought to you by The Gaming Club Online Poker Room, kicks off on Saturday September 18, 2004 at Lake Elsinore Hotel and Casino in Lake Elsinore, California. Registration begins at 10:00AM and the tournament will begin at noon.

The event will be televised on FOX/UPN in the San Diego market. The buy-in is $200 + $20 with no rebuys and a guaranteed prize pool of $25,000. The televised event is limited to the first 300 players so be sure to arrive early for registration.
